The standard for functional safety in the automotive industry.
Just as every industry is always something special (a kind of self-image of the respective players), the automotive industry has also generated a new standard, ISO26262:2011, first revision 2018 with inclusion of on-road trucks and motorcycles in the scope of the standard.
Basically, the application is intended to achieve that during the development, measures are already taken to achieve a fault-free or fault-tolerant use of the product; in other words, no one is injured or killed by use and no massive environmental damage is caused.
These measures are structured in management, system, hardware, software and safety specific aspects, there are special standard parts for each; furthermore also for trucks, motorcycles and for computer processors.
It requires some experience and many years of project work to be able to penetrate and apply all aspects.
